He said although it is the core mandate of the fire personnel to promote safety, extra efforts must be made to ensure that public safety is guaranteed.
Addressing officers of the Brong-Ahafo Regional command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Sunyani, Dr Gaisie said his administration would not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism and indiscipline from personnel.
The CFO is on a two-day working visit to the region.
Dr Gaisie said the service required high levels of professionalism and discipline among service personnel, and called for effective collaboration between the service and other security agencies especially at the local levels for fire safety
He urged the various Regional and District commands of the service to put all equipment in readiness so that they could tackle unforeseen contingencies in a more proactive manner.
The CFO said there is the need to intensify public safety education to control the outbreak of domestic and bush fires.
Dr Gaisie also called on media houses to monitor and expose fire stations which did not tidy or keep their environment clean for the necessary actions to be taken against them.
