The #FixTheCountry Movement has sharply criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for handling the Airbus bribery scandal involving former President John Dramani Mahama.

In a heated press conference, the group denounced the OSP’s recent verdict on Mahama as a “whitewashed” decision, accusing the office of attempting to shield the former president from accountability.

The Movement has called for an independent investigation into the scandal, arguing that Mahama should be given a chance to defend himself publicly.

The #FixTheCountry Movement has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the current administration, underlining the urgency of their demands for transparency. They have warned that failure to address their demands would result in widespread protests.

A spokesperson for the group warned that failure to address their demands would result in mass mobilizations across the country to demand the removal of the Special Prosecutor.

The Airbus scandal, which centres on allegations of bribery involving high-ranking officials during Mahama’s tenure as Vice President of Ghana, has significant implications for the country’s political and economic landscape. The scandal has raised questions about the integrity of Ghana’s political system and the potential impact on foreign investments.

The OSP’s ruling on the matter has incited significant backlash from the #FixTheCountry Movement, which remains steadfast in its commitment to justice and insists that it has not been adequately served.

With the 14-day deadline approaching, the government’s response to these demands will be closely watched as the potential for large-scale protests looms.
