Foh-Amoaning and AI Director Battle It Out Over Gay Rights

It was words of war between Human Rights Advocate Moses Foh-Amoaning and Amnesty International Acting Country Director Frank Doyi over the rights of homosexuals in the country.

There has been radio controversy as to whether gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry or not.

A livid Foh-Amoaning and Mr Doyi virtually traded insults as to whether the country should pass a law to allow gays and lesbians marry or not as tempers rose between them.

Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, Mr Doyi argued that banning homosexuality in the country will infringe on the rights and freedom of homosexuals whilst Mr Foh-Amoaning questioned if their supposed rights include anal sex and licking of vaginas.

Mr Doyi added that it is needless to discriminate against homosexuals based on their sexual orientation adding that gays should be protected in every human aspects of life such as access to education, life, healthy, adequate housing, safety among others.

‘Amnesty International does not support or oppose gayism, lesbianism or homosexuality as been discussed in the media or public. Irrespective of a person’s sexual orientation, culture or background that person still has rights of which he/she must enjoy at all times, and it is the responsibility of the State to ensure this,’ the acting country of director of Amnesty International explained.

But an incensed Foh-Amoaning described homosexuality as a weakness which has its roots in Judeo-Christian religion where actors involved have refused to refrain from.

He lashed out at the western liberal media propaganda for polishing up realities of homosexuality adding that the act does not dignify human beings.

Mr Foh-Amoaning rubbished claims that homosexuality came about as a result of modern trends.

‘So they have the rights to anal sex, right? its a shame. How do you stand there and profound such ridiculous theory. Homosexuality is a human weakness that has been in existence since time immemorial, like somebody who wants to commit incest, adultery, fornication, somebody who wants to sleep with dogs. The sexual orientation is for one to have anal sex with his fellow man when co-habiting that is all it is. Rights of lesbians, what is it about?, its like a woman co-habitating with a woman, by using their fingers and using several materials or use their lips or fingers to lick. The question is whether that particular act of  co-habiting or sexual relationship is proper for the development of the human nature, how does it dignify human beings?,’ he asked.

According to Mr Foh-Amoaning, there is no human rights law or international treaty that Ghana has subscribed to that allows same sex to have anal sex or lick themselves.

But Mr Doyi questioned why gays must be subjected to abuse, violence or discrimination due to the stage they are in appealing to Ghanaians to protect gays as government cannot do it alone.

An irate Mr Doyi further retorted that ‘I respect him so much and I don’t want to engage him on an argument online, its not the best way to go. Can we have a decorous discussion on this. It is clear that my big brother is coming from a certain perspective which is religion’.
