The Malawi Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday arrested former Malawi Army Chief, Henry Odillo, and Lieutenant General Clement Kafuwa, over corruption charges.
A statement released by the ACB signed by the Bureau’s publicist, Egrita Ndala, said the two were arrested for a payment worth over 4 million U.S. dollars that the Malawi Defense Force (MDF) made to a supplying company for a consignment of blank ammunition which was not delivered.
According to the statement, the two will answer three charges of abuse of public office.
The two are expected to appear before court soon, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, a number of Malawians are serving jail terms while over 70 cases of looting of public funds where billions of dollars were siphoned from public coffers are still in court. Enditem
