Foster Parents Asked to Send Children to School

Mr Fred Sakyi Boafo, Greater Accra Deputy Director of Social Welfare has called on foster parents to send their children to school for them to grow up to be useful citizens.

Mr Boafo was addressing over 87 participants including; assembly members, traditional rulers, department heads and some Non-Governmental Organisations at a three- day workshop at Amasaman organised by the Ga West Social Welfare Department in collaboration with UNICEF.

The participants were drawn from Amasaman, Nii Tsuruman, Kwarteman, Manhean, Kwashiekumah and Odumtia and educated on foster children.

He urged them to send their foster children to hospitals for treatment whenever they were sick.

Mrs Araba Awua-Boateng, Ga West Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ) said improper parental care was one of the challenges in the municipality and said issues involving children, the best interest of the child must be their paramount consideration.
