A youth and development activist, Frank Anwelle, has officially commissioned a self-funded borehole for the residents of Jirapa-Tampaala, a rural community with approximately 3,000 people.
The project, aimed at addressing the long-standing water crisis in the area, will directly serve over 2,000 residents, alleviating their reliance on contaminated water sources such as dams and rivers.
Tampaala has, for years, faced critical water shortages, with residents often depending on unreliable and unsafe sources for their daily water needs.
This has led to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as dysentery, cholera, and diarrhea, making access to clean drinking water a pressing health concern. Frank Anwelle’s intervention comes at a crucial time, offering the community a lifeline through the provision of safe, potable water.
At a mini durbar held during the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Frank Anwelle emphasized the life-saving importance of clean water, stating, “In an era where a lack of clean drinking water can lead to the contraction of diseases, the value of this borehole cannot be overemphasized. Water is life, and we must all ensure that this borehole serves its intended purpose for many years to come.”
He called on the community members to prioritize the maintenance of the borehole to ensure its longevity.
Mr. Anwelle also commended Hon. Cletus S. Dapilah, the Member of Parliament for the Jirapa Constituency, who played an instrumental role in connecting him with the community leaders and assisting in selecting an appropriate site for the borehole.
Though the project was fully self-funded by Mr. Anwelle, collaboration with the MP and local leadership was key to its success.
“The Hon. Cletus has been very supportive throughout this process, ensuring we received the necessary guidance from the community leaders. His involvement was pivotal, and for that, I am forever grateful,” Anwelle said.
In addition to Hon. Cletus S. Dapilah, Anwelle thanked Prophet Courage Heavens, Karl Atsu Olagboye, Mawutor Amudzi, Gideon Appah, Gabriel Adeniji, Deus Infinitum Ltd, Eugene Bayuo, and Peter To-ang (Constituency Secretary), all of whom played crucial roles in making this initiative a reality.
He concluded with a quote by Alan Cohen: “Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts.”
This borehole marks a significant step toward improving the health and livelihoods of the people of Tampaala, with the potential to change the narrative of water access in the area. For a community that has struggled for years with water scarcity, this intervention is a beacon of hope for a better, healthier future.
