Gabby Otchere-Darko Challenges NDC to Prove Corruption Claims Against Akufo-Addo

0

Gabby Otchere-Darko, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has challenged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to provide evidence of corruption against President Nana Akufo-Addo that matches the severity of the Airbus bribery scandal.

Otchere-Darko’s remarks come in response to the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s recent dismissal of Mahama in the Airbus case.

He criticized the NDC and Mahama for their ongoing corruption allegations against the Akufo-Addo administration, suggesting that these claims lack the substantive evidence seen in the Airbus investigation.

In a post on X, Otchere-Darko called for a direct comparison between the Airbus case, which involved detailed findings and admissions of guilt by the bribe giver, and any corruption claims against Akufo-Addo, his family, or his appointees.

He asserted that the opposition should produce concrete evidence, not mere allegations, to substantiate their claims.

Otchere-Darko also criticized the NDC’s reliance on the book “Agyapadie” as evidence to support their assertions about worsening conditions under the current administration compared to Mahama’s tenure.

He argued that the NDC’s use of this book, which he described as fiction, reflects desperation and a lack of credible evidence.

He pointed out that the NDC and Mahama have celebrated the dismissal from the Airbus case while simultaneously alleging corruption against the current administration.

Otchere-Darko questioned the consistency of this stance, noting that the NDC has accused the Akufo-Addo government of corruption without providing evidence comparable to the documented findings of the Airbus case.

He also referenced ongoing investigations into alleged bribery involving a senior international bank staffer connected to Mahama’s administration, suggesting that such cases illustrate the complexities and challenges within Ghanaian politics.

In conclusion, Otchere-Darko expressed relief for Mahama and his party following the resolution of the Airbus case but maintained that transparency and scrutiny should continue to be hallmarks of governance in Africa.
