MastercardMastercardGalaxy Capital Limited, a capital investment company, has launched a mutual fund investment package, aimed at encouraging lower income earners to participate in the investment market.

The package which comes in two forms, Galaxy Money Market Fund and Galaxy Balanced Fund, was designed to offer investors including the rich and poor an array of choices for investment that will meet their needs and expectations.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Chief Executive, Galaxy Capital Limited, Samuel Bright- Kaitoo said the mutual fund was set up to offer students, pensioners and other low income earners to invest a percentage of their incomes in the fund.

“We have settled on the minimum deposit so that all those at the lower end of the financial ladder can partake in the investment market,” he said.

He noted that the company was committed to ensuring that investors receive reasonable returns on their investment as per the regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adding that the public should be wary of investment companies that promise unreasonable profits on investment funds.

He said the company’s policy, strict regulations and monitoring by SEC made it impossible to divert investment funds into other business ventures for profits and urged industry players to avoid diversification of funds to win the trust of investors.

“The SEC is tough and plays only by the regulations and so the security of investment is assured,” he stressed.

The Deputy Director General of Finance, SEC, Lawrence Yirenkyi- Boafo reiterated the commitment of the Commission to maintain sanity in the investment sector.

“SEC will not entertain any organisation that disregards the regulations in investment sector,” he said.

Mr. Yirenkyi- Boafo observed that most investment do not take investors through the risk involved in the process, adding that problems arise when the investor is unaware of the risk taken and its objectives.

He urged operators of capital investments to implement best practices that would attract investors and enable renewal of operation license.
