Gella Foundation to raise $100,000 for ventilators and patient monitors

The Gella Foundation, a Community Based Non- Governmental Organisation has launched a campaign to raise $100,000.00 for the purchase of ventilators and Patient monitors for the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.

The funds, when raised would also support food aid for some 1,550 disabled children and their families, supply of insulin for 200 diabetics, ventilator, five patient monitors for the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital and PP for CHPs Compounds within the Tarkwa Nsuem Municipality.

Ms. Gloria Williston, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of the Foundation announced the package when the Foundation donated relief items worth GHC 10,000.00 to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.

The items include; 120 gallons of liquid soap, 60 gallons of sanitizers, 1000 pieces of locally manufactured nose masks, 30 rolls of jumbo tissue papers and 20 boxes of bottled mineral water.

Ms Williston said after interacting with the Municipal Hospital and the Social Welfare Department, the Foundation realized the need to pay attention to the health needs of the hospital and the vulnerable.

The Medical Superintendent of the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, Dr. Frederick Sarpong, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for their contribution towards the fight of COVID-19 pandemic and to raise additional $100, 000 for the purchase of valuable items to support the community and the Hospital.

The Gella Foundation works to promote accessible inclusive and quality education in realising Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy.

This is done using the social and human right models of disability and by liaising and collaborating with the various community stakeholders such as the Social Welfare Department, the Ghana Education Service and disability groups.
