Speaking in an interview, George Afriyie said, ?Though we?ve missed certain key players due to injuries and visa acquisition issues, but I can confirm that the debutants have also fit in and are responding very well.?

?I have always believed that Ghana is blessed with lots of talents and from what I have seen from the new call ups, from what they?ve demonstrated in the past days is a true manifestation that yes, when given the chance to any Ghanaian player, he?ll definitely excel.?

Mr. Afriyie was, however quick to note that performance at training grounds could be different on a match day.
?There?s a difference in performance at training grounds and real match situation so lets me be careful here. From what I have seen so far, if it could be translated into the match proper then I have no doubt that these boys are going to do well,? he noted.

According to the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee no one should underrate the Canucks for they are not pushovers in football.

?Haven?t followed football for these years I cannot underrate a team like Canada. At least we are aware that most of their players are playing in the Major League Soccer (MLS) and if you have about four of our players playing in the MLS, in what measure would you say that they are pushovers,? he quizzed.

He was however sure that the Black Stars are going to beat the Canucks of Canada though he suspect that the match is going to be a difficult one.

Speaking on the nomination of Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu in the 37-man CAF shortlist for the 2015 African Footballer of the Year Award, he said, ?If CAF had shortlisted five of our players I wouldn?t have been surprised, but if two have been shortlisted, let?s pray so that they would be in the final five and possibly one winning the award.?

The Black Stars of Ghana will today take on the Canucks of Canada in an international friendly match at the RFK Stadium in the United States of America.
