Unemployed charged for defiling 15-year girl

Accra, Jan. 29, GNA – George Tetteh, a 21-year unemployed, who lured a 15 year old girl to stair case of a first floor restaurant and had sexual intercourse with her, is before an Accra Circuit Court.

He was charged for defilement contrary to section 101 of Act 29/60 as amended by section 11 of Act 534/98 last Friday. He pleaded not guilty and has been remanded into prison custody to re-appear on February 7, 2012.

The Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sarah Acquah presenting the facts of case said the victim who is 15 years lives with her parents at Odorkor Official Town whiles the accused, unemployed, resides at Darkuman.

She said during the month of October, 2011 at about 12 noon the victim went to a restaurant called the Golden Star Joint at Odorkor Official Town to buy some food.

She said whilst the victim was buying the food the accused approached her and asked for her contact number.

ASP Acquah said the victim without suspecting anything gave the accused the number.

She said on November 12, 2011 in the afternoon, the accused called the victim and asked her to meet him at the same restaurant of which she obliged and went.

She said the accused lured the victim to the stair case of the first floor and had sexual intercourse with her and also warned her not to inform anybody of the act.

ASP Acquah said in the early part of January 2012, the victim’s mother detected some changes on the daughter and during interrogation she revealed that the accused sexually abused her five weeks ago.

She said a report was made to the Police and a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination.

ASP Acquah said the certified medical report indicated that the victim had been defiled.

She said the accused was subsequently arrested and charged with the offence.
