Clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads are a huge issue for some of us especially on the nose and under the lip.  So I started to do my own research LO AND BEHOLD, I just realized, after 24 years on this earth that I have clogged pores and blackheads. I have known all my life that I have ?bad skin? but it is something that I have just accepted. I didn?t know the exact reason but now my eyes have been opened wide. Smooth skin HERE I COME.

Before we go into some of the at home remedies to get rid of these things, please please note; I am neither a doctor nor a dermatologist. These remedies are from research and trial and error on my part. If you want an expert opinion, please see your doctor or dermatologist. Please note, this post is a bit of a long read, I want to provide allll (most) of the facts that can help you. So you need to sit down and grab some tea and read the FULL post.

I will be doing a 3 part series because there is just a lot of info. SO today?s post will focus on Blackheads.

So before we get into it, let?s talk a little bit about what blackheads are.

Black Heads

1. Blackheads are typically caused by the overproduction of oil, which tends to occur when a person reaches puberty (but in some cases, like mine, it continues on into adulthood)

2. A blackhead is not dirt. If you have blackheads, please do not think that it is because you do not clean your face well enough. The cause of blackheads is all below the skin?s surface

3. A blackhead is a collection of sebum and skin cells gathered in your hair follicles. They get stuck and plug the hair follicle causing the breakout.

So how do we get rid of these blackheads? Because honestly, they can get out of hand!

1. The key to getting rid of your black heads is unplugging the pores and dislodging the buildup. While it might be tempting squeeze it out, your fingers have oils and dirt on them which could cause further breakouts. Instead, here are a few products you can look our for.

2.Look for cleansers, exfoliators and acne products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide ? or a combination of those. Products that include these ingredients loosen the dead skin cells that can get clogged in your hair follicles. These ingredients can literally help unplug the follicles. But note that some of these products can be harsh on the skin and so you need to know your skin type and make sure you are moisturizing your face.

Check out some of the scrubs you can use below. When you are using these products, make sure to only use them on the affected areas eg your nose.

3. As soon as you clear the oil and blackheads out, you?re left with an empty open pore that can easily fill back in again. So if you want to permanently keep your nose looking clean and clear, you?ll need to continuously maintain your skin in that area.

4. Baking soda is an effective treatment for blackheads because it helps clear the skin of impurities such as debris and dirt.

Mix two teaspoons of baking soda with mineral water to make a paste.Apply the paste generously on the affected skin area and massage gently. Allow it to dry for a few minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.Repeat this remedy once or twice a week.

5. Lemon/lime

juice, also used in acne treatment, can help remove blackheads. The nutrients and vitamins present in lemon juice are good for all skin types.

Make a facial scrub by mixing lemon juice with salt, yogurt and honey. Gently scrub the affected area with this natural exfoliating mixture. You can also mix fresh lemon juice with milk or rosewater to create a facial cleanser. Use it daily for 10 to 12 days.

I will have the post up on clogged pores up shortly. Please please share this with your friends because I know that a lot of ladies are suffering from these 3 things.
