Dr.Prince Pambo, a FIFA / CAF medical committee member spoke to Nana Prempeh aka British man on Power 97.9 FM in his usual educational interactions with the media, and said football has come to a halt all over the world and stringent measures must be taken before the return of competitive football.
He said the pandemic must not be taken for granted as it is very dangerous.
According to Dr. Pambo, the FIFA President Gianni Infantino has come out to declare that football is second to human life as a principle, so no tournament or league is to be played until the convid-19 is 100% over.
He reiterated that over 1.9 million people have contracted the disease worldwide, with more than 110,000 reported dead globally.
He expressed that mass gathering is very dangerous at this time as football attracts a lot of people.
“Mass gathering, traveling, locally and internationally could spread the virus, because clubs would be traveling to league centers to play.” he explained.
“Pandemics are dangerous and affect lots of people; it could take a long time to be controlled. Fans should be tested well with thermometers or vaccinated before they can watch matches at the various stadia confidently” he added.
He stressed that re insurgence of the virus can emerge as there could be remnants, and the disease can spread further so the GFA must be very careful before deciding on restarting football competitions in November / December or next year.
“Players need psychological support, clubs need financial back up and the coronavirus must be cleared before football returns by the end of the year or early next year” he advised
