The Ghana Football Association(GFA) yesterday at its Accra secretariat presented a 14-seater Glo-branded Hyundai mini bus to Kumasi Asante Kotoko for emerging winners in the 2011/12 Glo Premier League.
President Kwesi Nyantakyi said the presentation was to keep up the momentum in the league as well as encourage clubs to strive for excellence.
?Winning the league is no mean achievement. We decided to add a vehicle to the prize money because of the peculiar situation that confronts our clubs in the country.
?We want to become one of the best in Africa by way of organization of the league as well as motivate other clubs.
We have also rolled out some changes in our bid to raise the bar in the league,? said Nyantakyi.
And outlining the changes intended to make the league competitive, the FA boss revealed that Club License Regulations, the change in the judicial system, for instance discouraging clubs from winning points in the board room, would be put in place in the forthcoming season.
He commended Kotoko for winning the league and urged them to defend it.
In his acceptance speech, Kotoko?s Accra representative and a management member of the team, Jerry Asare, thanked the GFA and the Premier League Board on behalf of the Asantehene and the Executive Chairman of the club, Dr K.K. Sarpong.
Asare noted that the presentation was in recognition of the club?s hard work and gave the assurance that they will work harder in the coming season.
The FA boss, after the press conference, presented the keys to the vehicle to Asare and his lieutenant Nana Kwame Danquah and later embarked on a six-minute test drive in the FA?s vicinity.
