A combined military and police operations team has arrested 141 suspects in a dawn swoop at Buduburam, about 39 km west of the Ghanaian capital, according to a press release reaching Xinhua on Friday.
The suspects, including 15 females, were taken to the police headquarters in the capital, Accra, for screening and possible legal process, according to the police statement.
It said the operation on Thursday was part of preventive measures being adopted to ensure a high level of safety in the country.
“The preventive measures shall include cordon and search, swoops, and intelligence-led operations,” the police said.
Two policemen were shot dead at Buduburam late August by a gang driving in an unregistered vehicle, bringing to five the number of police personnel who lost their lives in similar circumstances in a single month. Enditem
