Francis Dodoo has been re-elected president of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), for another four years.
Dodoo pulled 11 votes of the 19 to beat competition from former chief, George Lutterodt at the election held at the Conference Hall of the National Hockey Pitch in Accra.
Slvanus Lamptey was given the mandate as vice president, having pulled out of the presidential race at the eleventh hour.
Marc Dzradosi pulled ten votes to beat incumbent, Richard Aygapong in the race to be treasurer while Samuel Ayer emerged the organising secretary.
Lutterodt told GNA Sports that, ?It was the dirtiest election in Ghana?s sporting history with the accusation and slander, which is wrong.
” This attitude will not encourage others to involve themselves in athletics. I am taking a break from athletics. I was conscious and optimistic to win this election. I lost by just a small margin.
” If you give the sitting president one and half hours to present his case as a presidential report and you give me five minutes to present mine, how do you expect me to convince the delegates.
“He was given more time to present statistics which some are irrelevant whiles I also had a file to deliver but I could not because of the limited time?.
