Communications Director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Sammy Heywood Okine believes Ghana Boxing has a bright future despite the fact that the nation does not boast of a world champion.

According the the experienced sports journalist, there are many young rising stars who are training every day and night to become future champions.

Speaking on Awake TV Sports Show on Friday, he named some potential world champions like highly rated Alfred Lamptey, Jessie Manyo Plange, Wasiru Mohammed and Duke Micah as some of the young boxers who can make Ghana great.

He did not forget Habib Mohammed, former IBF lightweight champion, Richard Commey and leading contender, Emmanuel Tagoe, the Game Boy as champions in their own rights.

The Media / Public Relations Manager of the GBA also mentioned young progidies like Prince ‘The Bee’ Larbie and 12 year old USA base Joseph Awinongya Jr. who is making great waves.

Mr. Okine expressed that grooming world champions is not easy, as it takes a lot in terms of financing, getting connected and knowing the business of the game.

He commended the GBA and GBF for instituting the Bukom Fist of Fury Boxing League which prepares the Black Bombers to go and qualify two Black Bombers to the Olympic Games.

On the Olympic Games, he was sad that the coronavirus has caused it to be postponed and urged Ghanaians to practice healthy lifestyle and believe in Jesus Christ as the Saviour.

He said in this period of the coronavirusm Ghanaians must show more love, so the rich people must support the poor.
