Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said on Wednesday that Ghana is committed to preserving peace in south Lebanon, Lebanon’s presidency website reported.

“Ghana has been present in south Lebanon since 40 years and it will continue to do so as long as there is need for it,” Bawumia said.

His remarks came during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Baabda Palace in a bid to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries.

Bawumia said that he came to Lebanon to visit the Ghanaian forces working with the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

He added that Ghana aims at boosting further ties with Lebanon.

Aoun praised the efforts of Ghanaian forces in preserving peace in Lebanon through their participation in the UNIFIL.

He also hoped to boost further ties with Ghana in the coming future. Enditem
