Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku announced no betting company has been authorized to issue odds on Ghana Premier League (GPL) matches.

Okraku revealed that the association’s legal team will soon address betting companies that have included GPL games in their betting offerings.

This move is part of a broader effort to tackle match-fixing concerns within the league.

Some match outcomes last season raised suspicions, leading several betting firms to remove GPL games from their platforms.

Okraku emphasized that the GFA has not licensed any betting companies for this purpose and condemned the practice of betting companies profiting from GPL matches without official sanction.

“We have not licensed any betting company to take odds on our games.

We will empower our legal department to confront this issue head-on,” Okraku stated during the 30th Ordinary Congress in Prampram.

He added that the GFA is open to partnering with companies through proper legal channels.

Okraku’s administration has previously demonstrated a firm stance against match-fixing, as seen in the demotion of Inter Allies and the indefinite suspension of AshantiGold for match manipulation.

The Congress also served as a precursor to the new GPL season, which kicks off on September 6.
