The theme of the Garden and Flower show this year is ?The world is your garden? In her opening remarks, the Second Lady said gardens and flowers and all flora have such positive impacts on the lives and livelihoods of individuals, in the corporate world of business and as a nation.

She charged society to play its role as collective trustees with joint responsibility of our environment to conscientiously conserve and enhance the beauty of our world, not only for ourselves, but for future generations.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur recalled the launch of the first edition of the innovative Ghana Garden and Flower Show in 2013 and said she was pleased to see how it has blossomed. ?The Ghana Garden and Flower Show has not only provided a platform for showcasing some of our country?s best talents in horticulture and floriculture, but has also created opportunities for tapping into the experiences of other countries and their expertise?,

Guest Speaker at the ceremony Dr. Sally Kosgei, former Minister of Agriculture in Kenya and Managing Director of Zena?s Roses, shared the Kenyan experience in floriculture. She made reference to how Kenya now has foreign exchange earnings, of $1 billion a year from export of flowers and the fact that about 10million people are employed in the sector. Access Bank, the lead sponsor of the event was represented by the Group Head of Commercial Banking, Mrs. Joana Bannerman. She said ?Access Bank is proud to partner Stratcomm Africa for the third time running in organizing the show.
She emphasized that the fair is living up to its purpose by harnessing Ghana?s horticultural potentials and exploiting them as a tool of income generation. She expressed delight about this year?s edition of the show, saying, ?The theme for this show, ?The World is Your Garden?, was chosen to enable us reflect our individual roles in making our environment the garden it is meant to be. God in His wisdom, put man in the Garden of Eden, a lush and beautiful setting in which to flourish. He bids us follow His example and maintain the world as a garden. ?.
