Ghana’s Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, has announced that the government has located Sedinam Attionu Tamaklo, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), who was sentenced to ten years in prison with hard labour.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Sompa FM, Tuah-Yeboah revealed that Tamaklo, currently outside Ghana, is under surveillance by U.S. authorities, who are assisting in the extradition process.

He assured the public that the government is resolute in its efforts to bring Tamaklo to justice.

“Sedinam Attionu Tamaklo, who led MASLOC during the NDC administration, was convicted for theft,” Tuah-Yeboah said.

He reiterated the government’s stance on financial misconduct and expressed astonishment at the scale of her misconduct. He noted that an accountant involved in the case was sentenced to five years in prison.

Tamklo had sought permission to receive medical treatment abroad during the trial but did not return. Following her sentencing, concerns arose about her whereabouts.

Tuah-Yeboah clarified that she had moved between the U.S. and London and can now not leave the U.S.

He assured us that all legal processes for her extradition were underway and emphasized that her sentence would commence upon her return.

The Deputy Attorney General also announced the government’s unwavering commitment to recovering the stolen funds, including plans to confiscate Tamaklo’s assets and pursue those who provided her bail, amounting to five million Ghanaian cedis.
