The Ghana Hubs Network (GHN) has intensified its push for a more equitable and decentralized innovation landscape, urging stronger collaboration between public and private stakeholders to drive economic empowerment.

At a recent dialogue in Accra, the network outlined strategies to align startup support programs with broader development goals, particularly in boosting youth employment, digital transformation, and grassroots entrepreneurship.

A key focus of the discussions was the need to bridge gaps in funding, infrastructure, and capacity-building for underserved groups—including women, rural entrepreneurs, and persons with disabilities. GHN stressed that while Accra and Kumasi remain major innovation hubs, deliberate efforts must extend to all 16 regions to unlock nationwide potential. Participants highlighted unreliable internet access and a shortage of digital tools as critical barriers stifling hub operations outside urban centers.

The network identified agritech, fintech, edtech, and green technologies as priority sectors where coordinated support could accelerate Ghana’s digital economy ambitions. To strengthen ecosystem linkages, GHN proposed enhanced partnerships between hubs, government agencies, investors, and development partners. Such alliances, it argued, would improve startup competitiveness while creating scalable solutions for local challenges.

As part of its expanded mandate, GHN announced initiatives to map innovation gaps nationwide, tailor talent development programs to regional needs, and establish monitoring systems to measure impact. The network also plans to convene policy dialogues aimed at shaping inclusive frameworks for startup growth.

For investors and development organizations, GHN’s agenda offers strategic pathways into impact-driven ventures, public-private collaborations, and regional entrepreneurship programs. The push comes amid rising recognition of innovation hubs as catalysts for job creation and economic resilience a vision GHN says demands sustained commitment from all stakeholders to realize.
