Ghana Makes Strides in Sports Development, Achieves Record Performance

Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam highlighted significant strides in Ghana’s sports development during Tuesday’s 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review (23 July).

He emphasized advancements in sports infrastructure, talent development, and support for athletes to enhance their performance.

Ghana hosted the 13th African Games in March 2024, showcasing its new international standard sports complex at Borteyman and the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.

Amin Adam proudly announced Ghana’s best-ever performance at an international multi-sport event, securing sixth place on the medals table with 69 medals: 19 gold, 29 silver, and 21 bronze.

He also highlighted the success of the Black Challenge of Ghana, which triumphed in the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations, earning them a spot in the 2026 Amputee World Cup Tournament.

These achievements underscore Ghana’s commitment to advancing sports excellence and nurturing athletic talent on the global stage.
