The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana) has vehemently denied reports alleging that a Ghanaian Paralympic team absconded during a trip to Oslo, Norway.

In a press release, NPC-Ghana dismissed the rumours as “false and maliciously misleading.” The committee clarified that individuals involved in the incident, namely Theodore Mawuli Viworor and Ernest Yaw Ayisi of the Ernestay Disability Foundation, admitted to facilitating the trip using forged documents purportedly from NPC-Ghana and the defunct Ghana Amputee Football Association.

NPC-Ghana emphasised that neither Viworor nor Ayisi is associated with the committee, labelling their actions as impersonation and misrepresentation.

Furthermore, NPC-Ghana stated unequivocally that it did not seek visas from the Norwegian Embassy for any Paralympic team nor sponsored participation in any international competition in Norway.

The committee called upon media organisations to retract any erroneous reports and apologise to the Ghana Paralympic community. NPC-Ghana underscored the critical importance of accurate reporting in safeguarding disability sports, urging media outlets to verify information with the committee before publishing any news related to the Paralympic team.

In closing, NPC-Ghana reaffirmed its dedication to promoting disability sports and ensuring its athletes receive proper support and recognition.
