The police in Ghana have arrested a man described as a notorious armed robber who had allegedly robbed some diplomats in the country, a release received here on Tuesday said.

“The suspect, Mohammed Buzu, 29, was arrested at his hideouts at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle by the Accra Regional Criminals Investigations Department (CID),” the release added.

Also arrested by the police were two alleged accomplices of the suspect, Kenneth Antwi and Baffour Adjei Gyimah.

The statement described Antwi as a receiver and sponsor for Buzu’s robbery activities, while Gyimah is also a receiver.

“The suspects have been arrested in connection with breaking into the residence of the country director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and stealing from the residence of the ambassador of Kuwait,” the police said.

The police also retrieved some visa cards, wristwatches, mobile phones, back-packs; a diplomatic card issued by the government of Ghana; and a drivers’ license issued in Virginia, USA, bearing the name of the wife of one of the victims.

Meanwhile, the Accra Circuit Court put the suspects in police custody. Enditem
