The Ghana Police Service has provided new details regarding the alleged attack on Joana Gyan, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amenfi Central constituency.
In contrast to earlier reports of her and her team being attacked by unknown assailants, the police have clarified that the incident was a confrontation involving a driver. The driver was parked in the middle of the road in Adjakaa Manso, which led to a misunderstanding between some members of Gyan’s team and the driver.
The situation escalated when members of the local community became involved, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are working to resolve the situation. Authorities have urged calm as they seek to bring clarity and finality to the incident.
