The Ghana Police Service hockey team started their Africa Club Championship Cup (ACCC) on a bright note following their 1-0 victory over African powerhouse and tournament favourites, Eastern Company from Egypt.

The Ghanaian secured the much-needed victory courtesy Evans Sadare goal over the Egyptian team in match-day one of the ongoing competition.

The Ghana Police Service started the game with a quick pace in the early minutes but the Eastern Company momentarily slowed the pace of the game and controlled the game throughout the first half with some goal opportunities going the way of both teams.

The early minutes of the second half saw the Ghana Police Service speed up the game again as they did in the first half which led to Evans Sadare of the Ghana Police Service scoring the only goal of the game.

The dying minutes of the game saw massive pressure being mounted on the Ghana Police team as the Eastern Company tried to equalize but the defense of Ghana’s team denied them severally.

Coach of the Ghana Police Service, Samuel Kwaku Boakye in a post-game interview said, Ghana should expect more wins with the belief that the team would win gold in the tourney.

The Eastern Company coach, Hussein Kanel attributed his team’s first game loss to the pitch, saying it was new and unfamiliar to his players. He assured that they would capitalise on the remaining games to ensure that they proceed to the next stage of the tournament.
