The Ghana Police Service has successfully dispersed some students of the Islamic Senior High School (SHS) at Abrepo in the Ashanti Region, who embarked on a street protest on Monday.

The Police have subsequently restored calm to the area.

A statement signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwesi Ofori, Director-General, Public Affairs, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said investigations into the incident had commenced and that further developments would be communicated.

It said the students took to the streets and blocked the road to allegedly protest frequent accidents in front of the School.

The statement said some students and police officers had been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, is in Kumasi for a first-hand assessment of the situation.
