Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has announced that the Ghanaian government is gearing up for the third review of its International Monetary Fund (IMF) supported programme.
This follows the successful conclusion of the second review on June 28, 2024, which all IMF Executive Directors strongly endorsed.
Dr. Amin Adam revealed that an IMF staff mission is scheduled to visit Ghana from September 24 to October 4, 2024.
The mission will evaluate the country’s performance against the programme’s targets.
This assessment will cover six Quantitative Performance Criteria (QPCs), four Indicative Targets (ITs), and various Structural Benchmarks (SBs) that were due by the end of June 2024 and those required before the third review board date.
During a press conference in Accra on August 29, Dr Amin Adam noted that preliminary data for the first half of 2024 indicates that Ghana is on track to meet the targets for the upcoming review.
He expressed optimism that the IMF Executive Board would review and approve Ghana’s third review by the end of December 2024, facilitating the immediate disbursement of the fourth tranche of US$360 million.
This would bring the total disbursements under the programme to US$1.92 billion.
