Ghana reported 616 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the national tally to 62,751, said the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The death toll from COVID-19 in the country reached 377 as of Wednesday after five more deaths were reported, said the GHS.

The number of recoveries also increased to 58,561, and the number of active cases in the West African country increased to 3,813, said the latest data.

All 16 regions in Ghana have reported active cases, with the capital leading with 2,025.

Ghana reopened schools in January after closing them down for 10 months to contain the virus.

The Ghana Medical Association has been urging the public to adhere to the preventive protocols to contain the spread of the pandemic, as the government hinted of a second lockdown if the infection rates keep increasing. Enditem
