Ghana slipped two places down in FIFA world rankings


Ghana has slipped two places down to rank 26th in the April edition of the FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

wpid-black-stars5-300x195.jpgGhana, silver-medalist at this year?s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), also lost some 54 points to reduce its total point accumulation to 833 from the 877 points it gained the previous month.
The Black Stars are still third on the continental table behind champions Cote d?Ivoire, who are second, after Algeria.
World champions Germany are still in the lead followed by Argentina and Belgium.
According to FIFA, a total of 135 ?A? internationals were taken into account for the latest edition of the global ladder, taking the total number of games evaluated so far this year to 217.
Of the new matches, 25 were qualifiers for EURO 2016, 26 were 2018 World Cup qualifiers (CONCACAF, AFC) and 84 were friendlies.
Meanwhile, Ghana has been drawn into Group H alongside the qualifying series for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
The West African soccer powerhouse is paired against Mozambique, Rwanda and Mauritius in the group ahead of the qualifiers which begin in June. Enditem
