The Ghana SMEs and Startup Week (GSSW) 2024 was officially launched today, marking the beginning of a significant event designed to drive entrepreneurial success and foster valuable business connections within Ghana.
This year’s edition promises to be a pivotal platform for investment opportunities, business insights, and collaborative discussions on pressing issues related to jobs, skills, and entrepreneurship.
Under the theme “Fueling Startup Success, Lighting the Path to Greatness,” GSSW 2024 is set to stimulate innovation and growth in Ghana’s SME and startup sectors. The event aims to create an ecosystem where ideas can flourish, connections are made, and opportunities are seized.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Program (NEIP), expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of having a dedicated week for celebrating and supporting SMEs and startups. He highlighted the need for effective policy frameworks to bolster SME and startup development.
Philomena Dsane, Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation at the Ghana Enterprise Agency, underscored the significance of data-driven decision-making in shaping the SME and startup landscape. She affirmed her agency’s support for the week’s activities.
Nashiru Salifu, Deputy Director of Innovation at the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, spoke about the crucial role of innovation in economic growth. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting SMEs and startups in leveraging technology and research for expansion beyond borders.
Solomon Adjei, President of the Association of Ghana Startups, praised GSSW 2024 as a catalyst for potential exponential growth within the sector. He called on all stakeholders to unite in driving SME and startup success and illuminating their path to greatness.
The week will feature various highlights, including investment opportunities, workshops, panel discussions, and keynote sessions. Activities will encompass the Ghana SMEs and Startups Summit, Fintech Startups Forum, Agritech Startups Forum, AI/IoT Startups Forum, pitch sessions, and the Ghana SMEs and Startups Trade Expo. The event will conclude with the Ghana Innovations and Startup Awards, recognizing outstanding innovators and entrepreneurs.
Following the success of last year’s event, which sponsored top winners to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in South Africa, GSSW 2024 will offer top winners the chance to attend the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in the USA.
Solomon Adjei invited corporate Ghana to partner with the event and encouraged SMEs, startups, and other organizations to register and participate.
