The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced that colleges of education across the country will continue operating despite a two-month academic hiatus.
However, there may be potential implications for the academic year, which we are closely monitoring.
In a statement released on Friday, August 16, Professor Ahmed Jinapor, Director General of GTEC, clarified that the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has not issued a closure directive.
The announcement follows student demands for the closure of schools after an extended period of suspended academic activities.
Professor Jinapor emphasized that as of August 16, GTEC is actively working to resolve the matter.
Regarding the payment of August’s salaries for teachers, he indicated that further instructions would be provided promptly once the minister communicated his position.
