Ghana will host the 2nd International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) from August 28 to 29, 2024, in a significant effort to enhance security and counter-terrorism within the West African sub-region.
Organized by the Ghana Armed Forces, the event will convene over 600 international and regional defence delegates, establishing it as a critical platform for security professionals and stakeholders across Africa and beyond.
At a media briefing before the conference, Brigadier General Salifu, the IDEC 2024 Organizing Committee Chairman, underscored the event’s importance for regional security cooperation.
He highlighted that the conference is integral to Ghana’s broader strategy to bolster security frameworks and address the escalating threat of terrorism in the region.
“IDEC 2024 offers a vital opportunity for defence and security leaders to unite, exchange insights, and collaborate on strategies to tackle Africa’s most urgent security issues, particularly terrorism,” Brig. Gen. Salifu said.
The conference will be held in Accra and will feature a two-day schedule comprising discussions and exhibitions.
Participants will include land forces, national security agencies, defence and interior ministries, law enforcement agencies, special forces, and other significant global stakeholders.
IDEC 2024 will be distinguished by its assembly of Chiefs of Army from African and non-African nations, emphasizing the event’s global significance and the importance of international collaboration in addressing security challenges.
The presence of these high-ranking officials will facilitate critical discussions on both regional and global security matters, fostering stronger inter-nation ties committed to peace and stability.
