Ghana Premier League

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced here Friday it will introduce referee assessors and independent observers for the second round of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The FA noted the move is part of measures to improve officiating of the game in the country.

“As guardians of standards and quality service, the referees’ assessors are expected to help the referees improve. They will also help in the promotion, development, and retention of referees in the course of the season,” the GFA said in a statement.

The GFA further explained that independent observers play an important part in maintaining sporting integrity and are expected to monitor the football matches objectively and submit a report to the GFA for further action if necessary.

The GFA recently banned two referees for the rest of the season for bad officiating of a local league game. Enditem
