Ghana womens U-20 team

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghana U-20 women?s team coach Robert Sackey refuses to criticize his team for their abysmal performance at the World Cup.

The Black Princesses made a first round exit after losing all of its group games, without scoring a goal and conceding six to record the side?s worst run ever at the finals.

But the then-US based coach who has not been paid for 10-months says recognizes there have been hard lessons learnt and that he takes full responsibility for the team?s failure in Japan.

?I don?t want to use any words that will bring my team down,? he told Accra-based Radio Gold.

?When you come to a competition and you don?t do well, you don?t get the results you have to go back and work harder.

?I think my team was below average but then we will go back and work harder.

?The girls lived up to my expectation and they did their best but we need to work harder and as a coach I take full responsibility.?

Ghana came last in Group D which had giants USA, Germany and China as members.
