Renowned Ghanaian actor Daniel Delong stresses the crucial role of prioritising experience as the cornerstone of a successful career in the entertainment industry.
With a career of over a decade, Delong, known for his captivating performances on both screen and stage, recently shared his personal journey and insights to guide young talents in the competitive world of acting.
Speaking on Asase’s Artsy on Saturday (27 July), Delong highlighted the pivotal role of stage acting in honing the skills necessary for sustained success, providing a key insight for aspiring actors. “Most of the best actors we have in Ghana, according to our standards, are those who started on stage. Even those who transitioned from screen to stage have excelled,” Delong remarked.
Addressing the common pitfalls faced by emerging actors, Delong lamented, “Many aspiring actors I’ve interacted with are more focused on the glamour of fame than on mastering their craft.”
Delong emphasises the distinct advantages of beginning a career in theatrical productions: “They aspire to walk the red carpet, but I always advise them not to seek fame. Instead, aspire to greatness. True greatness attracts attention naturally, regardless of celebrity status.”
