Ghanaian actress leads walk to mark World Kidney Day

Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim led a walk through the major streets of the capital Accra on Thursday to commemorate the World Kidney Day.

“We walk through the streets to make people aware of the disease,” Ibrahim told media.
The walk is organized by the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation.
The foundation says it seeks to reduce harm caused by kidney cancer and other related diseases by increasing knowledge and awareness, providing information for patients and supporting research into the disease.
It is estimated there are more than 8,000 renal failure patients in Ghana. Out of this number, less than 600 are receiving serious treatment because of the high cost and the lack of equipment.
Ghanaian chemist Sylvia Anie suggested the citizens regularly monitor their blood pressure and drink enough water. Enditem
