Ghana’s diplomatic mission in China experienced a night of double honors on Friday as both the ambassador and the embassy received recognition for the ‘good work’ they have been doing to deepen the already friendly relations between Ghana and China.
The ‘Made in Ghana’ awards organized by the Entrepreneurial Foundation, Ghana awarded outstanding personalities and institutions for their contributions towards the growth of trade and industry in Ghana.
Ghana’s ambassador to China Edward Boateng emerged the most outstanding Ghanaian ambassador abroad.
This award was recognized his role in deepening the relationship between Ghana and China; attracting investments from China for both public and private sectors, and supporting investments in the One District One Factory (1D1F) program of the government.
In addition to that, the Ghana Embassy in China also received the award of the most outstanding Ghanaian mission abroad, fr its role in fostering friendly relations between the two countries and promoting their trade and investment relations.
The value of bilateral trade between China and Ghana reached 7.2 billion dollars in 2018, while China has also remained the leading investment source for Ghana in terms of numbers.
“I would like to thank President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in me, and also the former Chinese ambassador to Ghana Sun Baohong and the current ambassador Wang Shiting for their guidance on how to approach our relations,” Boateng told Xinhua in an interview. Enditem
