A statement from the GIPC said the mission, which started on 21 May and would end on 27 May 2016, is part of a three-country mission to Latin America, with the objective of solidifying Ghana’s relationship with Mexico.

It said the mission, a result of business interest shown by investors through the Embassy of Mexico in Ghana, would be the first in a series of events to enhance and share opportunities for investors in both countries.

The delegation would participate in the Second Mexico – Africa Business Forum, hosted by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is scheduled to visit several business, infrastructural, and historical locations across Mexico.

There would be signing of an MOU between GIPC and PROMEXICO to cement their relations through the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA).

The GIPC is a government agency established to promote, coordinate and facilitate investment in the Ghanaian economy with functions including investment advisory services, joint-venture search and the identification of specific projects for investment promotion.

The granting of investment incentives, the provision of investor support services, registration of technology transfer agreements and negotiation of Bilateral Investment Treaties, are also part of their duties.

Ghana is currently West Africa’s second largest economy and market, with a stable economy, respect for the Rule of Law and an enabling business environment demonstrated by its well-established governance institutions and enviable infrastructure.

The country was ranked the ‘Best Destination for Ease of Doing Business in West Africa’ by the World Doing Business Report 2014.
