A Ghanaian Member of Parliament in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Joe Osei Wusu, has asked mining communities to desist from shielding ?illegal? Chinese small-scale miners, local media reported here Tuesday.
However, a leading member of the small-scale miners association, Eric Kofi Rivers, told Starr News that the locals would not report their Chinese counterparts, as he did not consider their activities as illegal.
?If a foreigner has mining equipment and a small-scale miner helps him, there is no law in this country which is against that?the mining law doesn?t tell anybody that if you have a [mining] equipment don?t help anybody,? Rivers said. Enditem. Enditem
