Ghanaian president calls for partnership between industry, universities

Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday stressed the importance of building partnerships between industry and universities to ensure the next generation of business leaders are appropriately trained.

Speaking at an International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Business and Technology in Accra, the president said Ghana’s educational institutions needed to know at first hand what was happening in industry and train their students accordingly.

“This is a fundamental imperative if we are to achieve best practices and create jobs,” Akufo-Addo said.

He asked educational institutions to take a closer look at their curriculum content and the way they teach, and align it with present day realities.

“More and more these days across the globe, the value of a university is measured by how easily its graduates find jobs. This is a challenge that our own universities must face,” he said.

The conference focused discussions on issues of business and technology and the environments necessary for their growth and development. Enditem
