John Aggrey may be known in a few circles in Ghana and his reach and expertise on Youth engagement, Food Systems and Environmental matters on the international scene is widely recognized.
He was the only Ghanaian National recognized for full sponsorship to attend this prestigious high-level forum. Friends for Leadership, a permanent international pool of next generation leaders, was created with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. It brings together people involved in the creation and promotion of multilateral economic and humanitarian cooperation projects, for which John Aggrey is a member and leading the initiatives and projects with other members under SDG 2 thematically nicknamed, “Friends for Food”
“International youth cooperation is one of the important areas of foreign policy activities. A number of tasks is being implemented under the New Generation Programme, approved by Presidential Decree #1394 of 19 October 2011 “On approval of the concept of the programme of short-term study tours of young representatives of political, social, scientific and business circles of foreign states to the Russian Federation.” The objectives of the programme are aimed at strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Russia and its foreign partners, promotion of professional contacts between young people, promoting an impartial perception of Russia and strengthening its positive image around the world,” said Sergei Vershinin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
At the opening session of Friends for Food, John as a panellist was quoted as saying, “We MUST move from the “table of discussion to the table of action. We are either the table or used as the menu and as youth, our choice is “We are THE TABLE”. He also added, shared insights and practical knowledge on how the youth should can contribute to safe, affordable and nutritious food for a transformative Food Systems through sustainable, responsible consumption and production in addressing lifestyle, food security, climate change, malnutrition, and biodiversity as well as a green economy.
His insights caught the attention of representatives from the Saint-Petersburg State Agrarian University, who showed interest in building a stronger bridge and scholarship opportunities between Russia and Student Community. More information to follow soon.
On a whole, Mr. John Aggrey has indeed shown his African roots by raising higher the flag of Ghana and proving the youth have much to offer at the table! He is the Founder and CEO of HIRED Consult, Vice President of HIRED Project (an NGO based in Michigan) and the Vice President & Director of Engagement for the Global Socio-Economic and Financial Evolution Network (GSFEN)-Africa.
