The Most Reverend Dr Samuel Kwame Asante Antwi, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, has called on Ghanaians to lead incorruptible lives to ensure national development.

He noted that the economic hardship the country was facing could only be solved if the citizenry avoided corruption in all aspects of the economy.

The Most Rev. Asante Antwi made the call at the launch of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Madina Circuit of the Ebenezer Methodist Church on Sunday.

Activities planned for the year-long celebration, under the them; “?Re-defining Our Role – 50 Years of Continuous Witnessing To Christ” are health walk, food bazaar, fun games and choral concert.

The rest are clean-up exercise, donation to orphanages, quiz competition, revival, remembrance /commendation service, candlelight procession and thanksgiving service.

The Most Rev. Asante Antwi said for the country to be developed, there was the need for all to eschew corruption, adding that ?if the nation had incorruptible leadership, the country would see a growth?.

The Presiding Bishop bemoaned the falling standards of education and charged the Ministry of Education to be up and doing and also called for the re-institution of the defunct ?O? and ?A? Level Examinations.

On the cholera outbreak and the Ebola, The Most Rev. Asante Antwi said the nation had been engulfed with filth all over the markets nationwide.

The Presiding Bishop, therefore, called for environmental cleanliness which was the best way of combating the disease.

The Most Rev. Asante Antwi praised the church for its contribution towards the development of the nation and urged the leadership to rise up to the occasion and keep the government on its toes at all times.

Very Reverend John Hammond, Superintendent Minister of Ebenezer Methodist Church, said the church which was established 50 years ago and had been able to transform the lives of many.

He said the church had also been able to established schools, put up a seven-bedroom house and had acquired a vehicle for evangelism.

Very Rev. Hammond expressed the hope that the church would continue to promote Christian fellowship through which the potentialities of the total man would be fully developed for the benefit of humankind.
