Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo left on Sunday for Liberia to attend the inauguration of the Liberia’s new president, according to Ghana’s presidency.

The inauguration of George Weah, a former World Footballer of the Year, will take place in the Liberian capital of Monrovia on Monday.

In the absence of the president, Speaker of Parliament Mike Aaron Ocquaye will act as president in accordance with the constitution, following the departure of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to Britain for medical leave after he was reported unwell last Friday.

Weah won the Liberian presidential run-off held on Dec. 26, 2017, beating his rival Joseph Boakai. Enditem
