Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have been drawn against Zambian pair Zesco United and Nkana FC in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The draw, which was held at the CAF headquarters in Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday, also paired Ghana’s sole representative in the continental club championship against Sudanese side Al Hilal.
All three opponents of Kotoko dropped from the Champions League to the second-tier club competition.
Kotoko defeated Coton Sport of Cameroon 5-3 on aggregate in the final round of qualifiers to book a place in the group stage of the competition for the first time since 2008.
The Ghanaian side will start their campaign on Feb. 3 against Al Hilal in Omdurman before playing against Zesco United at home ten days later and wrap-up the first round with an away game against Nkana FC on Feb. 24.
Kotoko, nicknamed “Porcupine Warriors”, last won an African inter-club title in 1983.
The group phase of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup will start on Feb. 1. Enditem
