ACCRA, The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named a five-man shortlist to be considered for the vacant Black Stars coaching position.
?? The selected coaches include Avram Grant, former Chelsea manager.
The rest are Michel Pont; former Dutch international Patrick Kluivert; former Italian footballer Marco Tardelli; and Juan Ignicio Jimenenz, Spanish retired footballer.
?? The coaches were shortlisted following a thorough work by the three-man committee set up to look for a new coach for the Black Stars, the GFA said late Tuesday.
?? Pont, Kluivert and Tardelli will arrive in Accra to be interviewed on October 17 while Grant and Jimenez will be interviewed on October 18.
?? Two coaches – Bernd Schuster and Ricardo Gareca – have been placed on standby in the event one or some of the above listed coaches are not readily available.
?? Ghana is searching for a seasoned coach to replace Kwasi Appiah who parted ways with the association last week after leading the team to beat Togo 3-2 in the African Cup of Nations qualifier in Lome.
?? A new Black Stars coach is expected to be named before the final rounds of qualifying matches towards the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2015).
