Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have jumped to 1,042 with 208 new cases confirmed, Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said in a televised speech on Sunday.

Ghana has so far tested a total of 68,591 samples, and it has recorded a total of nine deaths from the confirmed cases, while 99 of those confirmed have recovered.

Akufo-Addo explained that the high number of confirmed cases coming out was due to the enhanced contact tracing and testing instituted three weeks ago to contain and combat the spread of the pandemic in the country.

Akufo-Addo also announced the lifting of the three-week-long partial lockdown, while the country’s borders will remain closed. Enditem
