Harry Stacey of Ghana expressed disappointment after placing seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, failing to advance to the semi-finals.

Competing in Heat 4, Stacey clocked 51.12 seconds, falling short of his best of 50.57 seconds set at the Africa Aquatics Swimming Championship. His performance placed him second from the bottom in his heat.

Stacey reflected on his race, saying, “It was not my best. Normally, I lead at 50m or second and first at the turn, but this time, I was around fourth, so my first 50m was not my best.”

Despite his disappointment, Stacey remains hopeful about his prospects. “I am not upset about the performance, but it was not my best. It’s all about building for the future,” he added.

Stacey’s participation marked Ghana’s inaugural appearance at the Paris Games. The nation’s upcoming events include Joselle Mensah’s swimming competition scheduled for August 3 and Rose Yeboah’s preliminary round in the high jump.

Ghana garnered a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through Samuel Takyi’s boxing exploits. While the country did not qualify in boxing this year, attention now shifts to remaining athletes, particularly the expectations surrounding the men’s 4x100m relay team.
