Ghana’s Inflation Down for June At 18.4%


Inflation rate for June 2016 recorded 18.4% compared with 18.9% in May 2016, Government Statistician Dr. Philomina Nyarko has said.

The monthly change rate in June 2016 was 1.3% while that for May 2016 was 1.1%.

The nonfood inflation for June 2016 was 24.1% compared with 25.0% recorded in May 2016.

According to Dr. Nyarko, the main factors that contributed to the downwards inflation for June includes transport, education and housing. Also imports for June declined to 17.1 percent from 18.5 in May.
